Pharaoh Tausret (c. 1191-1189 BC) was the Great Royal Wife of Seti II (c. 1203-1197 BC), and the last known ruler of the 19th Dynasty of Egypt. Following her death, Egypt entered into a period of civil war. The war was ended with the accession to the throne by Pharaoh Setnakhte (r. 1189-1186 BC).
The New Kingdom (c. 1570-1069 BC) of Egypt reached the zenith of its power under Seti I (c. 1290-1279 BC) and Ramesses II (c. 1279-1213 BC), who campaigned vigorously against the Libyans and the Hittites.
Hittite king Muwatalli II (c. 1295-1272 BC) is best known for fighting Ramesses II in the Battle of Kadesh (c. 1274 BC).
Egypt’s third Intermediate Period (c. 1077-664 BC) began with the death of Pharaoh Ramesses XI (r. 1106-1077 BC) which ended the New Kingdom.
Tiy-Merenese was the Great Royal Wife of Setnakhte. Her lineage is unknown.
Her husband, Setnakhte, was not the son, brother or a direct descendant of Tausret (c. 1191-1189 BC), Siptah (c. 1197-1191 BC), or Seti II (c. 1203-1197 BC)... the preceding pharaohs. His lineage is unknown.
Tiy-Merenese was the mother of Ramesses III.
Setnakhte was succeeded by Ramesses III (r. 1186-1155 BC), who was then succeeded by Ramesses IV (r. 1154-1148 BC).
