Ramesses III’s (r. 1186-1155 BC) victories helped prevent Egypt from collapsing during the Late Bronze Age when many neighboring states fell. He defeated the invaders known as "the Sea Peoples."
Tyti, Great Royal Wife, was the mother of Amenherkhepeshef, Ramesses IV, and Meryamun.
Another Great Royal Wife, Isis Ta-Hemdjert (Isis), was the daughter of Hemdjert. Her mother was likely of Syrian descent.
Isis was the mother of Pareherwenemef, Ramesses VI, and Montuherkhopshef.
A secondary wife, Tiye, was the mother of Khaemwaset, Pentawere, Meryatum, Ramesses VIII, and Duatentopet.
She is known from the Judicial Papyrus of Turinharem which recorded the conspiracy to place her son, Pentawer, on the throne instead of the appointed heir… Ramesses IV (r. 1154-1148 BC).
Tiye is said to have enlisted the help of Ramesses III’s chief of the chamber, a butler, a cattle overseer; the overseer of the harem, and a clerk of the harem.
Although the conspirators succeeded in assassinating Ramesses III, the attempt to alter the succession ultimately failed. His designated heir was able to succeed him as Ramesses IV.
Their husband, Ramesses III, was the son of Setnakhte (r. 1189-1186 BC) and Tiy-Merenese.
Ramesses III (r. 1186-1155 BC) was succeeded by Ramesses IV (r. 1154-1148 BC), who was then succeeded by Ramesses V (r. 1148-1144 BC).
